Club ethos

Our club ethos is a declaration that sets out how we want to provide football to youth players within the club. It is purposely concise for an easier understanding by players, parents and club officials alike.

 To provide football for children of team specified ages in a fun and safe environment
 To promote respect for the opposition and game officials
 To ensure all players play within the rules of the game
 Promote the importance of teamwork
 Play to be competitive but not at the cost of development
 U7-U11 football is regarded as “the development years” meaning game time will be shared amongst the squad of players as best as possible
 From U12 up, matches become “competitive” with results and league tables published; at these age groups the club maintain the above ethos but with competition for selection and on field competitiveness recognized
 Coaches deliver age-appropriate coaching to support the players journeys through the different formats of the game
 Coaches to provide constructive guidance to players during games
 Offer challenging but a supportive environment where children can learn from adult experience and their own mistakes
 Encourage in-game decision making in a pressure free environment
 Harness creativity and allow the players to play freely
 Encourage touchline support during games
 Discourage touchline coaching from anyone other than a club coach – this only serves to confuse

As agreed by the club committee members. [last updated Jan 2022)
