Thrilled to announce girls football will be part of the club when two teams begin playing in the Oxfordshire Girls Football League from September.

Chipping Norton Swifts FC are absolutely delighted to announce that two teams have been accepted to join the Oxfordshire Girls Football League (OGFL) next season in the U10 and U11 age groups.

This would not have been possible without the drive and commitment of Bridget Gray and Jodie Nolan. They understood the desire in the local area for girls’ football to then provide taster training sessions in April, from which there was a huge response. The player numbers were so good that we will be able to provide regular football to girls in two age groups with strong numbers in each squad.

The teams will join the OGFL, which begins in September. Between now and then, training will continue for the teams.

If anyone (aged 18 years +) is interested in helping to coach one of the teams, please contact our club secretary [leeashworth@hotmail.co.uk] to discuss further.

We would like to express our thanks to Chipping Norton School for their support throughout the initial stages and in providing the facilities for the girls to train and agreeing access to school grounds for match days.

Chipping Norton Swifts FC are very proud to have joined the wave of enthusiasm for the participation of women’s and girl’s football and look forward to welcoming more young players to the Swifts Family.

In season 2021/22, the club will be fielding ten* teams in three different leagues, across seven age groups which is undoubtedly terrific news and a supreme effort from many local people.

(* likely to be eleven once our U7 team is confirmed)
